The Matariki star cluster has heralded the Māori New Year for many generations and in 2022, it will become a public holiday. At Film Auckland we like to stay ahead of the curve - let's catch up over some refreshments and start a conversation on Matariki.
Matariki will be a distinctly New Zealand holiday, our first public holiday that recognises te ao Māori. It's set to be a time for reflection and celebration, a period where we can be retrospective but also plan for the future. It's also an observance that is uniquely connected to nature; could the holiday bring us back more closely to the earth's rhythms and cadences?
Actor and singer Matariki Whatarau joins us to get us thinking about Matariki, about how people will use the time to enhance their private and professional lives.
Join us as we look ahead and consider how we might observe Matariki as whānau and industry and what we can do to shape Matariki as a fruitful experience for all of Aotearoa.
Free event for FAI members and friends.
Some refreshments and nibbles provided. Registration required and a spot prize will be drawn for one of our lucky Film Auckland members.
